Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 10, 2026

100% On-Device Architecture: PrivaLens is engineered with privacy at its foundation. All metadata stripping, hardware diagnostic algorithms, and media encryption occur strictly locally on your Apple device. We do not operate remote storage servers, and we never collect, transmit, or sell your personal media or files.

1. Overview

Welcome to PrivaLens ("we", "our", or "the App"). This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding user privacy and data handling across our features: Photo & Video Privacy Sanitizer, Interactive Hardware Diagnostics, Biometric Private Vault, and On-Device Storage Management.

2. Information We Process & How It Is Handled

All core functionalities operate offline through Apple's native APIs. Data handling details include:

  • Photo & Video Metadata (EXIF / GPS): When you sanitize photos or videos, metadata tags (such as GPS latitude/longitude, camera model, lens parameters, and timestamps) are removed entirely on your device. The sanitized files are saved back to your Photo Library or shared at your direction. No photo data is sent to external servers.
  • Hardware & Sensor Diagnostic Data: During interactive tests (screen dead pixel check, touch screen matrix sampling, stereo speaker sweeps, microphone input dB meter, and haptic feedback), sensor readings are evaluated instantaneously in device memory to provide real-time diagnostic output. Diagnostic results are not tracked or stored remotely.
  • Biometric & Private Vault Media: Media placed in the Private Vault is saved in an isolated, encrypted application container on your local device. Authentication via Face ID or Touch ID is managed exclusively through Apple's native LocalAuthentication framework; PrivaLens never accesses or stores your raw biometric templates.
  • Contacts & Calendar Cleanups: If you use contact deduplication or expired calendar event cleanups, processing is performed exclusively on-device via native Contacts and EventKit frameworks.

3. System Permissions We Request

To enable specific tools, PrivaLens may request the following system permissions upon user interaction:

Photo Library (Photos & Videos) Local Only
Required to inspect and strip sensitive EXIF/GPS metadata from photos and videos, and to import selected media into your secure Private Vault.
Microphone Local Only
Required strictly for the Hardware Diagnostics Lab to test microphone frequency input and display real-time decibel waveforms. Audio is never recorded or transmitted.
Camera Local Only
Required during hardware diagnostic tests to inspect camera sensor functionality and test torch/flashlight hardware.
Face ID / Biometrics Local Only
Required to authenticate entry into your Private Vault using Apple's Secure Enclave.
Contacts & Calendar Local Only
Optional access to organize duplicate contacts and clean expired calendar reminders on-device.

4. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties. In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled securely by Apple via StoreKit. We do not store or process your financial billing details.

We may receive anonymous, aggregate diagnostic crash logs from Apple (if you opted into sharing crash analytics with developers in iOS Settings) to help us resolve crashes and optimize application performance.

5. Children's Privacy

PrivaLens does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect app enhancements or legal obligations. Any updates will be posted directly to this web page with a revised "Effective Date".
